Commission recommends taking action against Oli, the writer, and Gurung
In the context of the Janajati movement, the National Human Rights Commission has recommended action against former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and former Information and Communication Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung. The Human Rights Commission had been conducting a separate study on the movement that took place on the 23rd and 24th of Bhadra. Some points of the study’s report, decisions, and recommendations to the government have been made public. The commission recommended that the report include provision for a punishment of either six months of imprisonment, a fine of three hundred thousand rupees, or both. The commission also stated that any candidate for any position that is politically appointed or elected should be ineligible for at least five years. There is also a commission recommendation to impose restrictions on administrative responsibilities for at least three years and to ban foreign travel for at least three years. The commission has also recommended a provision for automatic suspension from any public position if a case arises. The commission mentioned that Oli, Lekhak, and Gurung violated human rights.
