Rabi Lamichhane and PM Modi Discuss Shared Prosperity
In a major diplomatic development, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane held high-level bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday. The significant meeting took place during Lamichhane’s five-day official visit to India, initiated at the invitation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nitin Naveen.
Following the dialogue, Prime Minister Modi expressed great satisfaction with the interaction via an official social media post. Modi warmly welcomed the RSP leader’s explicit desire to work closely for a shared and prosperous future. Reaffirming geopolitical priorities, the Indian Prime Minister emphasized that Nepal remains a vital partner under India’s core “Neighbourhood First” policy. He further expressed India’s eager anticipation to collaborate with Nepal’s new leadership to elevate their unique, multifaceted relationship to greater heights.
According to official sources, the high-level deliberations centered on strengthening overall Nepal-India bilateral relations, deepening ties between the RSP and India’s ruling BJP, and addressing various issues of mutual strategic interest. The meeting boasted heavy diplomatic presence, attended by India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. On the Nepali side, Lamichhane was accompanied by his spouse, Nikita Poudel, alongside RSP leaders Bipin Acharya, Deepak Bohara, and senior diplomats from the Nepali Embassy.
Lamichhane’s ongoing itinerary has featured intensive diplomatic engagements since his arrival on Monday. The RSP chief has already concluded pivotal meetings with prominent Indian dignitaries, including Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, signaling a robust effort to expand party-to-party and government-to-government cooperation between the neighboring nations.
