NRB Third Amendment Bill Introduced to Modernize Nepal’s Financial Sector
Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has officially tabled the Nepal Rastra Bank (Third Amendment) Bill, 2083, in the House of Representatives. This legislative move aims to comprehensively strengthen the country’s financial sector and enhance overall macroeconomic stability.
While addressing the parliament, Finance Minister Wagle emphasized that the proposed amendments are crucial to updating the central bank’s legal framework. He noted that the existing laws need to align with rapid changes in both the domestic and global financial environments. A major focus of this amendment is addressing the growing use and integration of digital systems within the banking sector.
The government anticipates that the passing of this bill will significantly help maintain price and balance-of-payments stability across the nation. Furthermore, the updated legal framework is expected to foster sustainable economic development by creating a more resilient financial ecosystem. The House of Representatives is scheduled to resume discussions on the matter during its next meeting on June 11.
