Pokhara Airport Gets Major Push For Global Connectivity
The Nepal government has announced a series of incentives to encourage international airlines to operate from Pokhara International Airport, aiming to boost tourism and improve global air connectivity. A Cabinet meeting on Wednesday approved a 100 percent waiver of parking, landing and navigation fees for international airlines until mid-September 2028, along with a 50 percent reduction in ground handling charges.
The move comes ahead of Flydubai’s launch of direct Pokhara–Dubai flights on September 23, the airport’s first scheduled international commercial service. Ticket bookings have already begun following approval of the flight schedule. Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhanraj Acharya said the incentives would help attract more international carriers, strengthen tourism and expand economic opportunities.
Airport General Manager Jagannath Niraula said the Dubai route would provide easier access to Europe, the Americas and other destinations through one of the world’s major transit hubs.
