PM Balendra Shah Condemns Sunsari Violence
Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Tuesday night issued an official statement addressing the recent violence in Sunsari, expressing grief over the loss of life, wishing a speedy recovery to those injured, and assuring strict legal action against those responsible.
In a statement shared on social media, the Prime Minister acknowledged that the initial security measures were insufficient to prevent the escalating unrest, which resulted in deaths and injuries, including casualties caused by security personnel firing.He said that official investigations into the incident are underway and stressed that any security personnel found responsible for unlawful deaths would face legal consequences.
The Prime Minister also announced a series of relief measures, including full compensation for the family of the deceased, government-funded medical treatment for all those injured, and immediate administrative steps to prevent similar incidents in the future. Appealing for calm, Shah urged the public to exercise restraint, avoid provocative or retaliatory actions, and cooperate with authorities until the legal process is completed, emphasizing the need to preserve social harmony.
Meanwhile, following fresh clashes in Dewanganj-3 (Kaptanganj) on Tuesday night, the District Administration Office imposed an indefinite district-wide curfew from 9:00 p.m. The curfew aims to contain the deteriorating security situation and restrict public movement across major municipalities and key highway corridors.
