Government Reopens Labor Approval in Four Countries to Boost Overseas Employment

The government has reopened labor approvals for 4 countries, including Israel. The labor approvals, which were postponed due to the war between Israel, the USA, and Iran, have been reopened. However, the war between Iran and the USA is still ongoing. Despite the ongoing war between Iran and the USA, labor approvals for Israel, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Lebanon have been opened based on the ministerial-level decision of the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security held on Chaitra 31, 2082. In the case of Iraq, labor approvals will be provided as per the decision made on Poush 11, 2082, the Foreign Employment Department stated.

The Ministry of Labor, in a ministerial decision on 17th Falgun 2082, had suspended labor approval for West Asia and Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Yemen, Jordan, Turkey, Israel, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, and Iraq. Iran had been targeting American military base camps in the Gulf with drones and missiles. As a result, after the safety of Nepalis in those countries began to face challenges, the government had suspended labor approval. On 3rd Chaitra 2082, labor approval for Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Yemen, Jordan, and Turkey was reopened. Based on the recommendation of the ‘Emergency Response Team’ (ERT) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Labor also reopened labor approval for the remaining countries.
