Fake Rescue Scam Widens as Two Additional Suspects Arrested

Nepal Police have arrested two more individuals, Rajendra Bahadur Singh, 56, and Sandeep Tiwari, 28, in connection with a fraudulent rescue operation in the mountaineering sector. Singh, a former Vice-President of the Air Service Operators Association, was apprehended in Kathmandu, while Tiwari, associated with Royal Holidays Adventure and Travel Company, was detained earlier in Dhading district. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has now arrested a total of nine individuals linked to this scam, including members of trekking and rescue companies, hospital personnel, staff from foreign insurance companies, and shareholders of helicopter firms. According to CIB Spokesperson Shiva Kumar Shrestha, the investigation revealed that the accused fabricated claims of rescuing ill foreign tourists during high-altitude treks. They exploited these fictitious incidents to fraudulently obtain insurance payouts and achieve unlawful financial benefits.
