Suggestions to the government about the impact of Middle East tensions on Nepal

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has publicly released a report with recommendations to mitigate the potential impact on Nepal’s multi-dimensional sectors due to the tension observed in the Middle East. The ministry has released the report suggesting that short-term, medium-term, and long-term action plans need to be implemented to reduce the possible impact on Nepal’s multi-dimensional sectors caused by the tension in the Middle East. The ‘Inter-Ministerial High-Level Task Force’ formed to study the crisis in the Middle East and its impact on Nepal has submitted the report to the government with recommendations.

According to Lok Bahadur Paudel Chhetri, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the report also mentions the direct and indirect effects of the recent conflict on various sectors of Nepal’s economy, including the economic and social sectors, agriculture, industry, tourism, trade, investment, foreign employment, remittances, foreign currency reserves, balance of payments, as well as energy, fuel, food, and medicine supply.

Spokesperson K.C. of the ministry informed that the report presented suggests that the government needs to implement policy plans to mitigate such effects. According to the ministry, nearly 1.8 million Nepalis are employed in Gulf countries. Remittances have a significant contribution to the economy. From agriculture to industry, inflation has now had an impact.
