SSB Detains Somali National Near India-Nepal Border

Indian security forces have detained a Somali national near the India-Nepal border in Bihar’s Motihari district after reportedly observing suspicious activities in the area. The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) detained Kafi Ali, also known as Hasi Ali, on Monday evening in Baidyanathpur, near the border with Ishnath Municipality of Rautahat. According to SSB sources, Ali had travelled by bus from Ghoda Sahan to Baidyanathpur, where his activities reportedly attracted the attention of security personnel. Authorities recovered INR 25,000 in cash, a mobile phone, a microphone and other items from him. Officials are examining his passport, travel documents, Indian entry records and identification documents to determine whether he was preparing to cross into Nepal illegally or had another purpose for being in the border area. Security agencies are also investigating his possible intentions and whether he had any local contacts in the region. Following the detention, surveillance has been strengthened along the India-Nepal border. Authorities are expected to provide further details on the investigation and any legal action after the inquiry is completed.
