Nepal’s Buddha Air Takes Delivery of Its First ATR 72-600 Aircraft
Nepal’s leading private carrier, Buddha Air, has officially inducted its first new-generation ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft (Registration: 9N-AOS) into its fleet. Ferried directly from ATR’s manufacturing facility in Toulouse, France, the arrival marks a significant technical upgrade for the airline’s domestic operations.
Equipped with a modern digital “glass cockpit” and Advanced Required Navigation Performance with Authorization Required (RNP-AR) avionics, the aircraft is capable of navigating challenging mountain weather and landing under low-visibility conditions at airports such as Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Bhairahawa. With this latest addition, Buddha Air’s fleet expands to 17 aircraft. The airline plans to introduce a second ATR 72-600 by September, with two more deliveries slated for the coming months to expand its regional route network.
