Arya Samaj Centre Raises $174,000 to Support Flood-Hit Nepal
The Arya Samaj of Greater Houston, in the United States, has raised 174,000 US dollars for flood relief and rehabilitation efforts in Nepal.
Arya Samaj is a Hindu reform movement, founded in 1875 by Swami Dayanand Saraswati, which promotes the teachings of the Vedas and advocates for social and educational reform.
The funds were raised through contributions from 146 donors in the Houston community, following a briefing in September by personnel working in Nepal, who shared live footage and updates regarding the damage caused by the floods.
