Nepalgunj is set to become a hub of cultural celebration as it prepares to host its very first Tharu Indigenous Food Festival. Beginning tomorrow, April 30, the three-day event is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the rich culinary traditions of the Tharu community. Organized by the Soaltee Western Premier Nepal, the festival promises to be a unique immersion into the heritage of one of Nepal’s most prominent indigenous groups.

The event will take place every day from early morning until 11:00 PM, giving food lovers and culture seekers a full experience. It doesn’t cost anything to get into the festival, but if you want to try the traditional foods, you’ll need to buy an Rs 500 voucher. The organizers say that these vouchers let people try a carefully chosen selection of real Tharu dishes made by experienced cooks, making sure that guests get a real taste of the food.

Raj Bikram Shah, the General Manager of Soaltee Western Premier Nepal, talked about how important the festival is. He said that it is meant to show off the community’s long-held food culture to people from all over the world. The organizers hope that by putting these traditional recipes front and center, people will learn to appreciate the indigenous practices that have shaped the region’s identity.

In addition to the food, the festival will also be a lively display of Tharu culture. Throughout the venue, visitors can expect to see a variety of displays of living traditions, arts, and cultural practices. One of the best parts of the nightly programming is the cultural performances that happen every night from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM. These performances are a fun and educational way to end each day’s celebrations.

The festival is more than just a food event; it’s a celebration of identity that combines traditional food with cultural activities. The Tharu Indigenous Food Festival is a unique chance to experience Nepal’s rich culture in the heart of Nepalgunj, whether you live there or are just visiting.
