MTR Brings a Century of South Indian Flavours to Nepal
Tasneem’s Cookout with MTR brought guests together at Kamalpokhari on August 23 for an immersive experience celebrating the heritage of Mavalli Tiffin Rooms (MTR) and its South Indian vegetarian cuisine. Organised by Le Sherpa Concept, the event introduced participants to MTR’s traditional cooking methods and signature recipes, highlighting a culinary legacy that dates back more than a century in Bengaluru. The Kamalpokhari outlet operates as an authentic MTR franchise, offering a fully vegetarian South Indian menu while retaining the brand’s traditional recipes and culinary identity. MTR’s presence in Nepal also extends beyond Kathmandu, including an outlet in Muktinath that serves South Indian vegetarian food to pilgrims and travellers. In Nepal, MTR operates under Le Sherpa Concept, a hospitality group that manages nine hotels, restaurants and food projects in the Kathmandu Valley. The group says its operations focus on quality, sustainability, thoughtful design and creating meaningful experiences for guests. Through events such as Tasneem’s Cookout, MTR continues to introduce its longstanding South Indian culinary traditions to diners in Nepal while connecting heritage cuisine with contemporary dining experiences.
