Nepal’s Prime Minister and President Call for National Unity and Social Harmony in Dashain Messages
Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah and President Ramchandra Paudel have extended their greetings to the people on the occasion of Bada Dashain, the country’s biggest festival, emphasizing the importance of national unity, family bonds and social harmony. In their messages issued on October 17, both leaders highlighted Dashain’s role in bringing families together and strengthening relationships across Nepal’s diverse ethnic, religious and cultural communities. Prime Minister Shah also stressed the government’s commitment to creating employment opportunities and improving economic prosperity so that fewer Nepalis are compelled to travel abroad in search of work. He noted that festivals should bring happiness rather than become a financial burden for families struggling with economic difficulties.
The leaders also expressed their condolences to families affected by recent devastating floods and landslides across Nepal. Prime Minister Shah assured that efforts were underway to rehabilitate people displaced by the disasters, while President Paudel urged collective action to support affected communities. The president highlighted Dashain’s importance in promoting forgiveness, goodwill, fraternity and respect among people from different backgrounds. The festival, which symbolises the victory of good over evil, is also an important occasion for preserving Nepal’s cultural identity and strengthening social ties. The leaders called on citizens to uphold these values and work together towards a peaceful, inclusive and prosperous nation.
