Rain Expected in Several Parts of Nepal for Over a Week
Rain is expected in several parts of Nepal starting next week, likely driven by a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal.
According to meteorologist Dr. Binod Pokharel, various weather forecasting models indicate the possibility of rain for over a week, beginning next Tuesday. Citing an average projection from four different forecasting models, he noted that some areas could experience heavy rainfall.
He explained that since different models provide varying estimates regarding the specific locations and intensity of the rainfall, it is currently difficult to predict exactly how much rain each region will receive. Weather forecasts may also shift in the coming days. Given the likelihood of rain, he has advised farmers preparing for the paddy harvest to consult weather forecasts before finalizing their plans.
He suggests that farmers planning to harvest paddy next Tuesday should, if possible, complete the harvest and bring the crop to a safe location beforehand. If that is not feasible, they should wait until the rain has stopped before proceeding with the harvest. In some areas, there is also a possibility of rain accompanied by hailstorms, necessitating extra caution among farmers.
Furthermore, adverse weather conditions could increase risks in the Himalayan regions. Consequently, those planning travel or trekking trips are advised to exercise special care. Travelers should base their plans on the latest weather forecasts and official advisories.
As weather forecasts remain subject to change, farmers, travelers, and residents in the affected areas are urged to stay updated with the latest weather information to mitigate the potential impact of the expected rainfall.
