Paddy production probably going to break the previous record

This year paddy output is going to break the previous record. Almost 6 million tons of paddy will be produced this year, according to the Agriculture’s Ministry. Even though thousands of hectares of rice fields were destroyed by severe floods and landslides at the end of September in several districts, mostly in Bagmati Province, paddy output increased this year. The Ministry is finalizing the data collection that it has nearly completed from all seven provinces. According to the figures on paddy output that were obtained from every province, Dr. K.C. said that the productivity of paddy will likewise be higher than it was the previous year.

The Ministry estimates that around 1.41 million hectares of land were planted with paddy this year. Dr. K.C. said that the primary cause of this year’s greater paddy output is a notable surge in paddy production in Lumbini local and Madhes Province, the nation’s breadbasket. The Madhes Province’s Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperative estimates that 367,000 hectares of rice fields would likely yield about 1.452 million tons of paddy this year. Compared to last year’s production, this will be 8.56 percent more. The province produced over 1.337 million tons of paddy last year. A rise in paddy output boosts the GDP of the country. In terms of area, paddy is the most common food crop in the nation, followed by maize. About 15% of the agricultural GDP and 5% of the total GDP are derived from rice alone.
