Held in police custody in a biased and vindictive manner: Author
Ramesh Lekhak, leader of Nepali Congress from Nepal and former Home Minister, has claimed that he was detained in a biased and vindictive manner. Lekhak also claimed that the report of the inquiry commission led by Gauribahadur Karki was biased, vindictive, incomplete, and unsubstantiated. He stated that he was ultimately released after being held in custody for 13 days on criminal charges based on the unsubstantiated report of the commission formed in connection with the incident of Bhadra 23 and 24. On Friday, Lekhak mentioned on the social media platform Facebook that he is a person who abides by the law and believes in justice, adding that the remaining legal and political struggle will continue.
The author wrote, ‘Even though I was charged with a criminal offense and held in custody for 13 days based on the biased, vindictive, incomplete, and unverified report of the commission formed concerning the events of Bhadra 23 and 24, I have ultimately been released.’ The author had been arrested by the police on Chaitra 14 for allegedly suppressing the Jan G movement. He was released on Thursday following a Supreme Court order. Along with him, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli was also arrested on the same day on the same charge and released with the author on Thursday.
