Continuous service: No leave will be given in the hospital for two days

The Ministry of Health and Population has stated that there will be no public holiday for two days in hospitals. After the government declared two consecutive public holidays, hospitals decided to give leave on Saturday and Sunday as well, the ministry clarified that there will be no holiday for two days in hospitals. On Friday, the ministry issued a press release stating that, according to the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal, the arrangement to give two consecutive public holidays on Saturday and Sunday is now in effect, and necessary instructions have been issued with the aim of ‘not affecting health services’.

The statement has mentioned that hospitals are instructed to make arrangements to operate OPD services on Sundays based on their workload and available manpower. It has also been stated that employees should be ensured two days off, giving one additional day off in the week besides Saturday. If that arrangement is not possible, replacement leave should be provided, the ministry has also stated. Similarly, the health ministries of all seven provinces have been requested to apply the same arrangement in provincial hospitals.

In the statement issued by the ministry’s co-spokesperson, Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, all concerned agencies have been urged to coordinate as necessary so that there is no disruption in providing regular health services to citizens.
