Balen Shah Secures Victory in Jhapa-5 Even Before Official Result

Balendra “Balen” Shah, a senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has effectively secured victory in the Jhapa-5 constituency even before the official announcement of the election results. His lead has grown so large that it is mathematically impossible for his closest rival to catch up.
According to the latest vote count, a total of 106,372 votes were cast in the constituency. Out of these, only 24,254 votes remain to be counted. Balen Shah is currently leading CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli by a margin of 38,065 votes.
Election officials and analysts say that even if all the remaining votes go in favor of KP Sharma Oli, it would still not be enough to close the gap. The margin between the two candidates is already significantly larger than the number of votes left to be counted.
Based on these calculations, Balen’s lead exceeds the remaining votes by 13,811, effectively confirming his victory even before the final tally is officially declared.
The development has generated significant political buzz, as defeating a prominent leader like KP Sharma Oli in Jhapa-5 marks a major moment in the constituency’s political landscape.
Although the Election Commission is yet to formally announce the final results, Balen Shah’s supporters have already begun celebrating what is being described as a historic win. The official confirmation is expected once the remaining ballots are counted and the final tally is released.
