Kathmandu Secures Long-Term Energy Agreement
Nepal has signed a new 25-year energy deal with India to increase hydropower exports. The agreement allows Nepal to supply more than 10,000 MW of electricity to India over the coming decades, strengthening bilateral economic ties.
Officials in Kathmandu said the deal would provide Nepal with steady revenue while supporting India’s growing energy demand. Environmentalists, however, urged caution, warning of potential ecological impacts from large-scale hydropower projects.
For Nepali media, this reflects national progress in energy trade; for Indian outlets, it underscores closer regional cooperation.
