More than 260 places in Lamjung are vulnerable to landslides & floods
Lamjung district faces floods and landslides risks, with over 260 locations at risk, including settlements, roads, government offices, schools, and religious sites, and 2,825 households at risk. More than 20 places in the Besisahar Municipality are vulnerable to landslides, according to Chief District Officer Madhav Prasad Pokharel. Even portions of the district headquarters itself are vulnerable because of the rivers and streams that are close by. More than 39 areas in the Madhyanepal Municipality are under danger, which might have an impact on approximately 3,250 individuals and 810 families. Likewise, more than 16 areas in Sundarbazaar Municipality have been designated as vulnerable, potentially impacting 191 households.
Over 100 locations in the Rainas Municipality are at risk, potentially affecting 3,100 persons and over 447 families. In Rainas, government buildings, educational institutions, and places of worship are thought to be especially vulnerable. Khwolasothar Rural Municipality faces 16 potential floods and landslides, while Dordi has 35. Near Shera market, Hilebazaar, Purano Duwar, Upper Dailung, Dudhpokhari, Marsyangdi, and Pallotari are at risk. Dudhpokhari has 14 potential floods and landslides, while Marsyangdi has 22. Villages have already experienced displacement. Local residents are dissatisfied with delays in rescue and relief efforts during disasters, despite the presence of security personnel and prepared disaster response materials from various levels, despite frequent disasters causing human and material losses.
