With the goal of lowering the effects of climate change through the development of climate-adapted rice growing technology, improving awareness, and boosting output and productivity, farmers commemorated the 22nd National Paddy Day and Paddy Planting Festival in 2082. National Paddy Day, which marks the beginning of the rice-growing season, is observed annually in Nepal on Asar 15. Singing, dancing, and playing in the mud are some of the regional variations that the event features. In Lalitpur, Minister Ramnath Adhikari planted paddy as part of a government scheme. During the event, Minister Adhikari said the government is committed to working for the farmers’ benefit despite resource and financial limitations.

While the Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture highlights the efforts of farmers, Kusum Devi Thapa, Chairman of the Federal Parliament’s Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee, issued directives for the government to support farmers and boost rice output. Fifteen percent of the country’s fields have been planted with paddy; 45.5% of these are in Sudurpashchim, 39.1% in Karnali, 20.5% in Bagmati, 9.7% in Lumbini, and 13.8% in Gandaki. Yam Lal Kandel, the chief minister of Karnali Province, stressed the role that agriculture plays in the province’s economic development and advocated for a modern, professional, and scientific agricultural system. Chet Narayan Acharya, the chief minister of Lumbini Province, underlined the necessity of robust food security measures and lower rice cultivation expenses. On National Paddy Day, there was also a mass planting in Bahanande Tole.
