There is no laboratory in the water companies that operate in Dang, according to the Food Technology & Quality Control Division Office in Tulsipur, Dang. Information Officer Subedi claims that because there is no laboratory, customers are compelled to drink contaminated water. According to the Directives on the Production of Processed Drinking Water 2074, a laboratory should be set up. In the absence of a laboratory, it is stated that a reputable laboratory should do a monthly physical and chemical study of both treated and untreated water.
But the water industry is also careless about that. Water has been sent straight to the market after being processed by industries using “Aaro machines. At the moment, the region is home to twelve water enterprises. According to Information Officer Subedi, one of them, Bhadrakali Drinking Water, situated in Tulsipur-9, has started the laboratory. According to him, all of those industries have received written instructions on how to set up laboratories. The district has 20 recognized water enterprises.
