Tuladhar Becomes Acting EC Chief Amid Vacancies

Election Commissioner Janaki Kumari Tuladhar has taken over as the Election Commission’s (EC) Acting Chief Election Commissioner.Tuladhar succeeds former Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari, who retired on July 7, 2025, due to the 65-year-old age limit.

Commissioner Tuladhar and Commissioner Sagun Shamsher JB Rana now make up the EC, despite the fact that it has a provision for five office-bearers, including the Chief Election Commissioner.

The Constitutional Council has recommended Rajiv Subba (Kathmandu) and Guru Prasad Wagle (Okhaldhunga) as Election Commissioners and Man Bahadur Karki (Morang) as Chief Election Commissioner, although they have not yet taken office pending parliamentary hearings.

By requesting complaints against the Council’s recommendation, the parliamentary hearing committee began the hearing procedure.
