RSP Lawmakers Raise Governance Concerns in Parliament
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmakers on Thursday raised concerns over emergency medical services, administrative misconduct, delayed government commitments and civil service transfers during the emergency hour of the House of Representatives.
RSP MP Gyanendra Singh Mahata questioned the government’s failure to provide a helicopter rescue for his sister-in-law, who suffered a cardiac arrest following a caesarean delivery at Mahakali Hospital. The family was eventually forced to charter a private helicopter to Kathmandu after government agencies cited legal and administrative hurdles.
MP Tika Sangraula (Jwala) called for an investigation into a leaked audio recording in which a Kanchanpur customs official allegedly threatened senior security and government officials over a seized vehicle. She said such conduct could undermine administrative discipline and border revenue enforcement.
MP Shambhu Prasad Dhakal urged the government to implement agreements reached with Gen Z protesters, highlighting the hardships faced by injured demonstrators. He also called for implementation of a five-point agreement with the Ministry of Health and an increase in compensation for families of security personnel killed in the line of duty.
Meanwhile, RSP General Secretary Bipin Acharya demanded the immediate establishment of an autonomous transfer board to make civil service transfers and promotions more transparent and reduce political interference.
