River Indie makes Nepal debut at NAIMA Expo 2026 with Vishal Group partnership
India-based electric scooter maker River Mobility has entered the Nepal market with the showcase of its flagship electric scooter, the Indie, at NAIMA Expo 2026 in Kathmandu. The six-day automobile exhibition, organised by the Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA), is being held from August 11 to 16 at Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall.
River Mobility is participating in the expo in partnership with authorised distributor Vishal Group. Visitors can experience the Indie at Stall L3A, Hall B, and pre-book the scooter.
Vishal Group, which has more than 80 years of automotive legacy and a presence across over 35 cities, will support River’s retail and after-sales operations in Nepal. River CEO and co-founder Aravind Mani said the partnership marks an important milestone in the company’s regional expansion.
The Indie underwent real-world testing across Kathmandu, including uphill routes such as White Gumba. The scooter features a 4 kWh battery, IDC-certified range of up to 160 km, a top speed of 90 km/h, 177 mm ground clearance and 18-degree grade ability. It also offers 55 litres of lockable storage and three riding modes.
River’s entry comes as Nepal’s urban mobility market increasingly looks towards electric two-wheelers, with practical range, durability and after-sales support emerging as key purchase considerations. The company’s partnership with Vishal Group could strengthen its ability to build retail reach and customer support across Nepal.
The Indie has also won the Red Dot Design Concept Award 2024 and Red Dot Product Design Award 2025.
