Proton Expands EV Footprint Introduces e.MAS 5 in Nepal Following Singapore Debut
Malaysian automaker Proton has officially launched its best-selling electric vehicle, the Proton e.MAS 5, in Nepal. Distributed by Jagdamba Motors, Nepal becomes the second international market to receive the hatchback following its debut in Singapore. The launch marks Proton’s second EV offering in the Nepalese market, joining the larger e.MAS 7 model introduced earlier.
Unveiled in Kathmandu, the Proton e.MAS 5 is available in two variants—Prime and Premium. Built on Geely’s Global Electric Architecture (GEA) platform, the entry-level Prime variant features a 30.12 kWh LFP battery offering up to 225 km of WLTP-rated range, while the higher-spec Premium variant sports a 40.16 kWh battery capable of delivering a 325 km WLTP range. Proton highlighted that international expansion remains a core strategic priority as the brand works to strengthen its regional presence.
