PM Balendra Shah Arrives in Pokhara on Family Visit

Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah, popularly known as Balen, arrived in Pokhara on Friday afternoon on a family visit. He is staying at Annapurna Eco Village Resort in Astam, under Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-6 in Kaski district.

Kaski Assistant Chief District Officer Chitrangat Baral confirmed Shah’s arrival and said no official government programmes had been scheduled during his stay. Security arrangements across the district have, however, been strengthened in view of the Prime Minister’s visit. Local residents welcomed Shah’s visit, hoping it would draw attention to longstanding issues in Astam, particularly poor road connectivity and drinking water shortages. Tourism entrepreneurs in the area also expressed hope that his visit would help promote Astam as a tourism destination.

Shah travelled to Pokhara by road from Kathmandu with family members. He is scheduled to visit Mustang on Saturday.
