Monsoon Brings Heavy Rain and Strong Winds to Parts of Nepal

Heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected across parts of Nepal as the monsoon remains active, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division. The country is likely to remain generally cloudy on Tuesday, with moderate rain and thunder and lightning forecast in many hilly areas and parts of the Terai. Heavy rainfall is possible at one or two locations in the hills, while strong winds are expected in parts of the Terai in Koshi and Madhesh provinces. The Himalayan region may also experience moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue into Tuesday night, with heavy rain possible in parts of the hilly areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces. In Kathmandu, moderate rain with thunderstorms is forecast, with temperatures between 27 and 29°C and a 60 percent chance of rain. Pokhara is expected to see similar rain chances, with temperatures reaching 29–31°C. Janakpur could be the warmest major city at 32–34°C, while Jomsom is expected to remain the coolest at 21–23°C. The weather office said Nepal remains under the influence of monsoon winds, with the monsoon low-pressure line near its normal position.
