Kim Min-ha to Host Busan Film Festival Opening Ceremony
The Busan International Film Festival has announced that South Korean rising star and Pachinko actress Kim Min-ha will host this year’s opening ceremony. Min-ha made her debut in 2016 and has since delivered outstanding performances in both film and television. She gained international recognition for her portrayal of the young Sunja in the global hit Apple TV+ series Pachinko, based on the acclaimed novel by Min Jin Lee. Following the acclaim she received for the role of young Sunja, Min-ha has appeared in popular K-dramas such as Light Shop, Way Back Love, and Typhoon Family. BIFF selected Kim Min-ha in recognition of her ability to bring depth and emotional nuance to her roles, as well as her growing stature as a star of the new generation. A statement from the festival noted that Min-ha, known for her poised and vibrant presence, will bring warmth and confidence to the opening ceremony, setting the tone for this year’s festival. The 31st Busan International Film Festival will be held from October 6 to October 15 at the Busan Cinema Center and across the city of Busan.
