Khanal to Meet Chinese Leaders During Four-Day Official Visit
Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal is set to begin a four-day official visit to China on June 14 at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The visit comes shortly after Khanal’s trip to India from June 5 to 7 and is seen as part of Nepal’s continued efforts to maintain balanced and constructive relations with its two immediate neighbours.
According to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Khanal will visit China from June 14 to 17 and hold bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart in Beijing. Discussions are expected to focus on matters of mutual interest aimed at further strengthening Nepal-China relations and expanding cooperation in various sectors. The foreign minister will also meet senior Chinese leaders during his stay.
In addition to diplomatic engagements, Khanal will attend an Investment Conference organised by the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing to promote foreign investment opportunities in Nepal. He is also scheduled to interact with members of the Chinese business community, attend a reception hosted by the Nepali Embassy, and meet members of the Nepali diaspora.
Foreign policy experts view the visit as an important step in Nepal’s diplomatic outreach and regional balancing strategy. Analysts note that Nepal’s foreign policy remains focused on development, with priority areas including connectivity, trade, and foreign direct investment. Strengthening economic cooperation with China is expected to be a key objective of the visit.
Minister Khanal is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on June 17 following the completion of his official engagements in China.
