Khadka elected as chairperson of the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee
Bharat Bahadur Khadka, a member of the Nepali Congress, has been elected as the chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives. Nepali Congress MP Khadka was elected unopposed as the chairperson of the committee. The Federal Parliament Secretariat stated that during the designated time for submitting candidacies, he was the only candidate. MP Yogesh Gauchan Thakali, a member of the committee, informed that he was announced elected unopposed at the committee meeting held on Friday. Mohan Acharya was the proposer and Jankaraj Giri was the supporter of Khadka.
The Rastriya Swatantra Party had decided to support the main opposition party for the chairpersonship of the Accounts Committee. Since the Rastriya Swatantra Party holds a majority in the committee and the opposition parties supported it, the chairpersonship went to Congress, making Khadka elected unopposed. Khadka, directly elected from Doti, is a veteran politician.
