Flood Disaster Leaves 1,365 Dead and 4,077 Missing

The death toll from the catastrophic Bhote Koshi River flood has reached 1,365 across several districts, according to authorities’ latest update issued at 8 am Wednesday.

Recoveries have been reported from Chitwan (363), Nawalparasi East (226), Nawalparasi West (222), Nuwakot (197), Rasuwa (174), Gorkha (75), Dhading (70), and Tanahun (38). Authorities have preserved 1,147 bodies after DNA sampling and formal identification procedures. Forensic teams have collected 2,698 DNA samples, including 1,286 from victims and 1,412 from relatives.

Meanwhile, 4,077 people remain missing, while 3,030 displaced survivors are staying in temporary holding centres. Search and rescue operations continue, with 7,975 police personnel deployed across the affected areas.
