Deuba Faction Rejects Nepali Congress Convention Decision

The faction led by former Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has rejected the establishment side’s decision on the party’s 15th General Convention, saying it cannot accept the move unless the convention schedule is postponed.

NP Saud, a leader of the Deuba faction, said senior leaders met Monday morning and agreed that the establishment side’s decision was unacceptable. The establishment faction had decided on Sunday to amend party provisions to allow all Central Working Committee members elected at the 14th General Convention to participate in the upcoming convention.

The establishment side has scheduled the 15th General Convention for October 2–5 in Kathmandu, while the Deuba faction has announced a separate convention for December 6–8.
