Bouldin meets Shah, offers US support for Nepal’s disaster recovery
US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Megan Bouldin paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Balendra Shah at the Prime Minister’s Office in Singha Durbar on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Shah thanked the US government for expressing solidarity with Nepal and for its support at a difficult time following the disasters, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
Shah said both Nepali and foreign nationals had been affected by the disasters. He also said Nepal was confronting the impacts of climate change, stressing the need to strengthen global cooperation and collective efforts to reduce climate-related disaster risks and address their effects.
The prime minister also discussed Nepal’s tourism potential and opportunities for mutual benefit through the development of the tourism sector. He said Nepal would continue to welcome US investment.
Bouldin expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and property caused by the floods in Rasuwa and conveyed condolences to bereaved families and affected communities.
She said the US government stood in solidarity with the government and people of Nepal at this difficult time and was ready to provide necessary assistance and cooperate in relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.
