Pearson taps AI as Nepal’s global education ambitions drive demand for English testing
Pearson has launched Official PTE AI Practice in Nepal, positioning artificial intelligence at the centre of English language test preparation as the country’s growing study-abroad market fuels demand for reliable, flexible and feedback-driven learning tools.
The platform allows test takers to complete mock tests and individual questions and receive immediate scoring and feedback, followed by targeted guidance from an AI tutor. It supports both PTE Academic and PTE Core, using official practice questions and scoring aligned with official assessment traits.
The launch reflects a broader shift in Nepal’s overseas education market, where students are increasingly looking beyond academic qualifications towards employability, international exposure and long-term career mobility. As English proficiency remains critical for university admissions, visa applications and workplace readiness, digital preparation tools are becoming increasingly important for independently preparing candidates.
Prabhul Ravindran, Regional Director, English Language Learning, Pearson South Asia, said early preparation could help candidates adapt as the PTE test evolves. He said the platform combines official questions, instant scoring and targeted feedback to improve understanding and confidence before test day.
English teacher Maria Gerges Wadiea said the detailed feedback and practical AI-driven tips could benefit both learners and teachers.
Official PTE AI Practice is currently available in Nepal, India and China, with further market expansion planned from the third quarter of 2026. The platform is free to start, while additional preparation activities are offered through flexible paid plans.
