Government forms committee to implement Gen Z agreements
The government has formed a coordination and facilitation committee to oversee the implementation of agreements reached with injured protesters and families of those killed during the Gen Z protests of September 8 and 9, 2025.
Joint Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Hemraj Aryal, announced the committee’s formation on Friday. It will monitor the agreement reached with Gen Z representatives on December 10, 2025, and the integrated package endorsed by the Cabinet on July 2, 2026. The committee will coordinate with relevant ministries on measures related to education, health and employment for injured protesters and families of those killed. It will also identify implementation hurdles and recommend necessary measures.
The committee, coordinated by Aryal, includes officials from seven ministries and representatives of families of those killed and injured in the protests. Basudev Khanal, an under secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office, will serve as member-secretary.
