Parliamentary Hearing Committee to Review Election Commissioner Nominees Today

The Parliamentary Hearing Committee is scheduled to meet today to conduct hearings on the proposed appointments of two election commissioners.

The committee will review the nominations of Guru Prasad Wagle of Okhaldhunga and Dr. Rajiv Subba of Kathmandu, who have been recommended as election commissioners. The Constitutional Council, at its meeting on July 3, recommended Wagle and Subba for the posts of election commissioners, while Man Bahadur Karki was proposed for the position of Chief Election Commissioner.

Following the completion of the parliamentary hearing process, the recommendations will be forwarded to the President, who will appoint the nominees to their respective positions in accordance with the Constitution.

Ahead of the hearing, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee had invited the public to submit complaints or objections regarding the proposed nominees for consideration during the review process.
