Cabinet Endorses President’s Address for Joint Parliamentary Session
Meeting earlier today at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar, the Cabinet gave its final approval to the speech that President Ram Chandra Paudel will deliver to both houses. Government Spokesperson and Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel, confirmed that the session is scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm.
The address is a mandatory constitutional procedure under Article 95 of the Constitution of Nepal, which requires the President to present the government’s strategic roadmap at the commencement of each year’s first session. This year’s presentation is particularly critical as it outlines the executive’s priorities in education, infrastructure, and economic recovery.
Prior to the joint session, the House of Representatives and the National Assembly will hold separate meetings at 2:00 pm to discuss preliminary agendas and table various ordinances. The Federal Parliament Secretariat has requested all members to be seated by 3:45 pm to ensure the smooth conduct of the joint session.
Following the President’s address, the parliament will transition into a study period for members before formal discussions on the proposed policies begin. With the budget for the new fiscal year looming, today’s address serves as the foundational blueprint for Nepal’s governance and development over the next twelve months.
