The bridges on the Postal Highway are being built with four lanes
The government has decided to expand the narrow bridges on the Nepalgunj–Gulariya Postal Highway to four lanes. Previously, the bridges were only two lanes on a four-lane road, so bridge expansion has started along with the road widening. Now, with the construction of four-lane bridges alongside the four-lane road, traffic will become more convenient, informed Lilabahadur Bhandari, Chief of the Postal Highway Directorate Planning Office, Nepalgunj. The construction of four-lane bridges has started at Kiran Nala at the border of Khajura and Janaki rural municipalities in Banke, and at Chapala Nala in Badaiyatal rural municipality in Bardiya, along the Nepalgunj–Gulariya road.
This bridge has been started to be constructed at a cost of 45 million rupees. A few years ago, a two-lane bridge for vehicle traffic was constructed, but as it became narrow, another two-lane bridge has been started to be built at the same location. The plan is to build an additional new two-lane bridge while keeping the old two-lane bridge as it is. Work is underway to complete the bridge construction within the upcoming Ashar. Similarly, the bridge over Chapala Nala in Badaiyatala Rural Municipality of Bardiya is also planned to be made four lanes. A four-lane bridge over Pedari Nala, located in Khajura Rural Municipality–3 under the Nepalgunj–Gulariya Postal Highway, has been completed ahead of the scheduled time.
