KC Takes Charge as Senior Member of House of Representatives
Senior-most Member of Parliament Arjun Narsingh KC has officially taken office, having administered the oath of office and secrecy in a ceremony held at Shital Niwas. The oath was administered by President Ram Chandra Paudel, marking the beginning of KC’s responsibilities at the Federal Parliament Secretariat located in Singha Durbar. In his inaugural address, KC emphasized the necessity for Parliament and the government to meet the diverse and extensive aspirations of the populace as expressed during the recent election. He committed to maintaining impartiality in his role, upholding the Constitution and parliamentary regulations, and ensuring the privileges of all Members of Parliament (MPs) are protected. KC was elected during the House of Representatives election on March 5 and will serve as chair of the sessions until a new speaker is appointed. The Secretariat has arranged for KC to oversee the administration of oaths for the remaining 274 newly elected MPs on the following Thursday.
