Balen Shah’s contact office planned in Jhapa
Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah is in the process of setting up a contact office in Jhapa, and a suitable house has been identified for this purpose. According to Prakash Pathak, the district chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), the property has been finalised in Damak-3. Pathak added that the house holds historical significance, though Mayor Balen’s team will need to conduct an inspection before confirming it for official use.
Apart from the contact office, preparations are also underway to acquire another property that will serve as both Balen Shah’s residence and the secretariat for his operations in Jhapa.
This move is part of Balen Shah’s broader political plans, as he is gearing up to contest the upcoming House of Representatives election from Jhapa-5, scheduled for Falgun 21. His candidacy sets up a high-profile contest against CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli. The establishment of a contact office and residence in Jhapa is seen as a strategic step to strengthen his presence in the constituency ahead of the election, ensuring smoother coordination with local supporters and party members.
These developments indicate that Balen Shah is actively consolidating his political infrastructure in Jhapa ahead of the polls.
