Government Eyes Indian, Chinese Investors for Infrastructure Projects

Nepal will host a major International Investment Summit in Kathmandu this November, inviting investors from India, China, and other Asian nations to boost infrastructure, energy, and tourism projects. Officials say Nepal requires over $10 billion in fresh investment to modernize its transport and power sectors.

The government is particularly seeking funds for hydropower plants and cross-border trade infrastructure, which could benefit not only Nepal but also neighboring India and Bangladesh. Economists in Kathmandu believe the summit could help Nepal reduce its reliance on foreign aid and instead build long-term economic partnerships.
