Further reconstruction has begun in the districts affected by the Jajarkot earthquake

Additional reconstruction efforts have begun in the districts impacted by the Jajarkot earthquake. More than 600 beneficiaries in the Doti district have already signed agreements, and plans were in motion to send the grant money in a matter of days. Dr. Bhisma Kumar Bhusal, Executive Chief of NDRRMA, stated that the process of gathering information about the earthquake-related losses in Jajarkot and Rukum West was in progress. He reported that after tallying the data gathered the previous year, reconstruction efforts in the Doti district have been forwarded. Approximately 9,000 people are beneficiaries. He said that the first phase of gathering information for the reconstruction of Jajarkot and Rukum West was already underway and that work would start in a few days.

Activities were in progress to gather information about private homes damaged by the earthquake in west Nepal, as agreed upon by the Disaster Study Center, Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, and NDRRMA. A group consisting of NDRRMA Under-Secretary Bednidhi Khanal, Sudeep Bikram Bhatta, and Ram Bahadur KC trained technicians who were assigned to gather the information in the first phase. According to NDRRMA, a team has also been assigned to Rukum West for the same purpose.
