Nepal Flood Death Toll Rises to 289 as Search Operations Continue

The death toll from the devastating Bhote Koshi River flood in Nepal’s Rasuwa district has risen to 289 as rescue teams continue recovering bodies from riverbanks across several districts.

According to police, 81 bodies have been recovered in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) alone. Of these, 55 have been kept at seven hospitals, while 26 remain at recovery sites awaiting transportation. The recovered bodies include 22 women, 33 men, six boys and nine girls. Eleven bodies have yet to be identified.

Earlier, 108 bodies were recovered in Chitwan, 27 in Dhading, 20 in Gorkha, 12 in Nuwakot, nine in Tanahun, 17 in Rasuwa and 15 in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West).

With many people still feared missing, security forces have intensified search-and-rescue operations along riverbanks and other suspected areas. Authorities are also working to identify the recovered bodies and hand them over to their families.
