Tea export became easier in India: Minister of Industry and Supply

Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Gauri Kumari has stated that the problem of tea exports in India has moved towards facilitation. Responding to issues raised by Members of Parliament in the House of Representatives regarding matters related to the ministry, she said that with an annual production of 26.1 million kilograms of tea, recent problems in exports are being addressed through facilitation efforts. She also informed that 80 to 90 percent of tea exports go to India.

According to her, the ministry had communicated in writing on March 30 to facilitate tea exports. Regarding these problems and the ongoing efforts for solutions, there was a discussion with the Tea Development Board on April 11. Orthodox tea is exported only to India. Moreover, Minister Gauri Kumari informed that discussions had also been held with the relevant ministries in India through the Nepalese Embassy in New Delhi. Efforts are also being made to facilitate tea exports from Nepal to other countries via India.
