Preparation to implement a staggered system in transportation
The government has decided to implement an odd-even system in transportation to reduce the consumption of petroleum products. In a cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, the government discussed implementing the odd-even system in transportation. According to Federal Affairs and General Administration Minister Pratibha Rawal, a special policy decision has been made to address the recently escalating fuel crisis and economic burden. In this context, Minister Rawal stated that a decision has been made to provide a 50 percent discount on customs duty and infrastructure development tax levied on the import of petrol, diesel, and kerosene. In the last 15 days, Nepal Oil Corporation has incurred a loss of around NPR 1.172 billion. To reduce fuel consumption, the government also declared a public holiday on Sunday.
