Work Underway on Susta Embankment to Control River Erosion

Construction of an embankment at Gajendra Mokshyadham and the Susta area of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) has commenced in response to erosion caused by the Narayani River. This initiative started in the second week of March and involves an expenditure of approximately Rs 170 million. Dr. Narayan Subedi, Chief of the Irrigation and Water Resource Management Project Office in Bharatpur, is overseeing the project.

Recently, Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Sarita Dawadi, inspected the embankment construction. During her monitoring visit, she emphasized that the conservation of Susta, situated along the Narayani River bank, is a government priority, and related activities are being advanced with urgency. Project Chief Subedi indicated that a temporary field office has been established to ensure that the construction activities are finished before the monsoon season arrives. Secretary Dawadi commended the ongoing efforts of the project team and expressed confidence that the embankment would be completed on schedule.
