Tea exports through Mechi customs office have increased by 40%
The current fiscal year 2024-2025 has seen a 40.50% increase in tea exports in the first 11 months. Tea valued at 3 billion 866 million rupees had been shipped up till the month of Ashad, according to the Mechi Customs Office. 14,463.33 metric tonnes of tea were shipped during the 11 months of the current fiscal year, according to Ishwar Kumar Humagain, the Mechi Customs Office’s information officer. In fiscal years 2024–2025, tea exports totaled Rs 2 billion 752 million. Cardamom exports decreased by 3.80% till the end of the month of Jestha in the current fiscal year, according to office statistics.
Cardamom exports for the 11 months of the current fiscal year totaled Rs 7 billion 181 million. Exports of cardamom reached Rs. 7 billion 452 million during the preceding fiscal year. Among the top exports, veneer sheets, iron sheets, plywood, and molasses had a 400.50 percent increase in exports, according to the Office. Exports of chhurpi, ginger, broom grass, and cement clinker all decreased by 7.7 percent, 12.60 percent, and 59.70 percent, respectively. This fiscal year, Mechi Customs has exported goods worth Rs 23 billion 283 million 556 thousand in the first 11 months.
