The celebration of International Yoga Day in Lumbini

A large-scale Yoga demonstration was held in Lumbini, Nepal, with Governor Krishna Bahadur Gharti and Nepal’s Minister of Youth and Sports Teju Lal Chaudhary as Chief Guests. The Lumbini Development Trust officials and over 500 Yoga enthusiasts from Nepal attended an event, where India’s ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, highlighted the global growth of Yoga, an ancient practice with origins in India, following the United Nations’ 2014 International Day of Yoga. He said that Lumbini is commonly seen as a representation of harmony and serenity, offers an incredibly appropriate backdrop for honoring the ageless principles of yoga.

The ambassador also emphasized the importance of the Lumbini Development Trust in promoting Lumbini as a religious and spiritual destination and thanked them for their assistance in organizing the event. According to the statement, the occasion was one of several activities the Indian Embassy was doing in several Nepali cities to commemorate the 11th International Day of Yoga. On Saturday, the Embassy will host a massive yoga demonstration at the Pokhara Rangsala Stadium in collaboration with the Pokhara Metropolitan City.
